Regiment First Aid Training

Profile

CPR & AED Training

Course overview:

CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) saves lives. Statistics show that the earlier CPR is initiated, the greater the chances of survival. In fact, 100,000 to 200,000 lives of adults and children could be saved each year if CPR were performed early enough. (according to the Heart Association estimates) AED's (automated external defibrillators) are proven to save lives and are therefore an invaluable addition to health and safety provision for your employees. The course will also teach defibrillator operators how to perform effective CPR.

Sadly, 70 percent of people may feel helpless to act during a cardiac emergency because they either do not know how to administer CPR or their training has significantly lapsed. This alarming statistic could hit close to home because home is exactly where 88 percent of cardiac arrests occur.
A casualty's survival rate will dramatically increase if an AED is available and if you have appropriately qualified personnel to use it.

Course Duration & Qualification:

Our one-day course lasts for three years, before you need to requalify. You will be presented a FAA Level 2 (QCF) award in CPR and AED Training Certificate.

First Aid Risk Assessment

Course overview:

HSE (health, safety and environment) cannot tell you what provision you should make for first aid. You, as an employer, are best placed to understand the exact nature of your workplace and decide what you need to provide.

First aid provision must be 'adequate and appropriate in the circumstances'. This means that you must provide sufficient first aid equipment (first aid kit), facilities and personnel all the time.
In order to decide what provision, you need to make you should undertake a first-aid needs assessment. This assessment should consider the circumstances of your workplace, workforce and the hazards and risks that may be present. The findings will help you decide what first-aid arrangements you need to put in place.

Anyone who is responsible for risk assessment within the workplace in conjunction with The HSE 2013 First Aid Guidelines for Employers.

Catastrophic Bleeding Control Management

Course overview catastrophic bleeding courses :

It will advise on the inherent dangers associated with the use of Tourniquets and Haemostatic Dressings and various types of Airways, whilst administering first aid in a high risk environment for the purpose of saving life. It has been developed to meet the requirements of industries that consider themselves to be at high risk following a suitable and sufficient risk assessment.

Tourniquets and Haemostatic Dressings if used correctly are now allowed to be used in first aid after the recommendations of the 2015 ERC first aid changes and the 2017 Tourniquet changes. Catastrophic bleeding is life-threatening and can kill in minutes so having a fast and effective method of stopping bleeding is a must have life skill in the workplace, out and about and at home.

This course covers the main types of commercial tourniquets including the CAT, MAT, SOFT T, SAM XT and Improvised Tourniquets. Haemostatic dressings from Celox, Quick Clot, Axiostat and other Haemostatic dressings and powders are also included. The course also covers the use of trauma dressings including the Air Wrap dressings.

Our Catastrophic Bleed Management Course is suited towards all outdoor and remote activities, as well as workers within identified high risk industries such as: Equestrian, Agricultural, Saw mills, Forestry, Tree surgery, Farming, Game shooting, Gun clubs, Security, Construction, as well as event medics and those with first aid or first responder qualifications that would like 'bolt-on' qualifications to enhance their skillset.

People often think of a stabbing or other violent attack causing death by blood loss before the arrival of an ambulance.

The truth is, an incident with a horse, a cyclist, in a kitchen, a tree surgeon, construction worker, in a factory, a glazier, outdoor activity - the list goes on, all can result in major blood loss and in the few short minutes before the person dies, the ambulance may not arrive until later.

Course Duration & Qualification:

Our half-day course can be included in any of our other first aid courses, we would recommend that an annual refresher is carried out for all Level 3 first aid course, along with the Cat Bleed Module. You will be presented a certificate of attendance along with your main course certificate.
